IT IS great to be able to report when a local business is doing well.
Despite being open for less than five years, The Whalley Wine Shop has earned a very impressive reputation for its quality and service.
And it has also been given a whole stack of awards, including Independent Drinks Retailer of the Year and Lancashire Retailer of the Year.
Now a Hollywood actor has added a drop of stardom to the business after popping in for a visit.
Best known for his role in Jurassic Park, Sam Neill, who also has a long list of blockbuster films to his credit, has agreed to supply his New Zealand vineyards’ wines to the shop.
The contract is a real feather in the cap for former Clitheroe Royal Grammar School student Tom Jones and his partner Jen Nott, who run the King Street store.
And it must be a huge satisfaction to 29-year-old Tom who only took the gamble of taking on his own business when he was made redundant with the collapse of off-licence chain Threshers.
In fact, people now travel to the village just because of the shop’s wide range of products together with the friendly service of the staff.
We wish all at the shop the very best for the future.
