I was as delighted as anyone to see Blackburn Rovers earn a well-deserved replay at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, and now a date has been fixed for said replay I request that the club are sensible in their ticketing of the match.

As a season ticket holder, I was fortunate enough to get discounted rates for the two previous home FA Cup matches this season, but this has still set me back £35 for the two games.

I understand that the cup is a good chance to raise extra cash for a club with substantial financial issues, but I hope the club do everything they can to ensure a packed and rocking Ewood on April 8.

The 6,000 fans taken to Anfield were magnificent and played a crucial role in willing our team to success, not least in out-singing some of the most vocal supporters in the country.

If tickets are the same as the last round (£20 for adults, £15 for season ticket holders) then they can maybe expect 18,000 to turn up on a good night.

But how wonderful it would be to lower prices by £5 and let’s get 25,000-plus inside Ewood Park.

Any lost revenue in terms of prices (although personally I think more people at a smaller price equals the same as fewer people at an increased price) would undoubtedly be made up if the lads are cheered into causing another upset against fancied opposition and set up an infinitely winnable semi-final against Aston Villa.

Blackburn fans have had precious little to cheer about in recent years, and this cup run has been a very bright spot in an otherwise somewhat disappointing season.

A rocking Ewood can be one of our biggest weapons on the night, so let’s get behind the lads. But in order to do so, the club should do all it can to make the match accessible and encourage fans to put their hands in the pockets rather than watch it on TV.
