RECENTLY I was admitted to the new Royal Blackburn Hospital Ward D3 for an operation under the care of Mr Willett and his team.

Everything was explained fully to me and I had lots of opportunities to ask any questions I might have. I was put in a side ward which was as nice as any hotel room.

The nurses were all very kind and friendly though very over-worked due to understaffing.

I met some lovely people who though quite poorly were very cheerful and always willing to chat.

Cleaners did a good job and were very helpful, but again there is too much work for one person on such a big ward which constantly needs keeping on top of.

I had my op on a Thursday and was home by Sunday.

I am now feeling very well and would like to say a big thank you to Mr Willett and his team, all the nurses and staff on D3 and all my family, friends and work colleagues who have helped me through this.

A special thanks to my wonderful husband and my mum and dad for doing all the jobs which I am not allowed to do yet.

All the very best for the New Year to everyone who has aided in my recovery. keep up the good work Royal Blackburn.
