I WOULD like to comment on the article (LT, December 4) about Support Darwen.
I would also like to urge shoppers to support the retailers of Darwen, as trade has been so poor due to the disruptions caused by the £1.4million traffic overhaul, which has been an absolute nightmare for all the residents of Darwen, young and old alike.
Also the traders who are trying to make a living and support the residents of Darwen.
The three Sunnyhurst councillors are asking us to support the traders, but if their concerns were genuine, then why did they not back Councillor John Slater's request to reduce the rents or business rates for the traders or to offer them some free rent over this difficult time?
