SO, they’re calling for CCTV to protect Darwen Tower.
Installing solar powered CCTV that transmits its images isn’t as expensive as some may think and will be far less than the annual costs of repairing the damage.
However, illumination is not a good idea as this would tend to encourage people up there after dark. They would then have to descend the footpath in the dark.
The whole thing – base, mast, solar panels, camera and transmitter – could be erected for less than £1,000, if a volunteer workforce is used.
Am certain we can get some local technicians to give their free time to assist in the wiring, not to mention, getting the local schools involved by teaching them how the whole thing works.
