On behalf of Prostate Cancer UK, I would like to thank all those football fans who donated to our Men United v Prostate Cancer matchday collection at Ewood Stadium on Saturday, October 19.
Volunteers collected £1,050.64 before Blackburn Rovers’ Championship home fixture against Charlton Athletic as part of the charity’s Official Charity Partnership with The Football League.
We would also like to thank Royal Mail, who supported the bucket collection with volunteers, and has agreed to match money raised by their staff as part of their Charity of the Year activity.
With the number of men affected by prostate cancer increasing at an alarming rate, we urgently need to raise the profile of the disease which affects 1 in 8 men at some time during their lifetime and kills over 10,000 men a year. That’s one man every hour.
If you have questions about prostate cancer call Prostate Cancer UK's confidential Helpline on 0800 074 8383, 9am-6pm Monday to Friday, with late opening until 8pm on Wednesdays. Or visit www.prostatecanceruk.org Mark Bishop Director of Fundraising, Prostate Cancer UK
