I HAD to laugh at Gary Titley's letter in Tuesday's letters "Let's make this a Euro Christmas," and get European countries to work together. Since when have other countries worked with us?

France and Germany cannot assist asylum seekers to get over to Britain quick enough so they can sponge off us rather than them.

These two countries have also just refused to send their troops to front line Afghanistan, so it's only British troops getting killed.

And as far as I am aware, it's only our Government that wants to charge us an environment tax on cars when we are only two per cent responsible for the pollution of the environment. We know this is just a parking tax that most people will not be able to afford.

Then there's the good old Euro that has increased the prices in Europe fourfold.

We wouldn't get much at Christmas if we had that over here, would we?

I can go on to say that French farmers have massive subsidies, or mention the £6.5billion rebate that Tony Blair gave away to Europe, and that Britain gives more money to the European Union that most countries, if not all, and I believe gets least back.

Not quite as rosy as Mr Titley paints, is it?
