YESTERDAY I was travelling along Preston New Road when I came across workmen laying an "anti skid" surface close to the top of Saunders Road. I assume that this is in bid to decrease the number of road accidents in that area.

Would it not make more sense to tackle the cause of such accidents, bad driving maybe? All too often we see money-making machines (aka speed camera vans) parked at the side of the road, and traffic calming measures such as speed bumps in selected areas of Blackburn.

If we just saw people stopped by the police for their bad driving, and actually penalised for it now and again, then surely some of these idiot drivers who treat Preston New Road and other roads, might think twice before getting into their souped up cars treating places such as Preston New Road and Lammack as their own personal Silverstone.
