RE the article "Proud County Celebrates its Special Day" (LT, November 28).

I am proud to be a Lancastrian. Although I have lived most of my life in Blackburn, I was born in Ramsbottom which is now in Manchester.

In the past, I have researched the design of the Lancashire rose and have found it is a single red rose with five green sepals, two of which are at the bottom in the five and 7 o'clock positions.

The Yorkshire rose is a white rose and the Tudor rose is a combination of the two with the Yorkshire one being in the centre of the Lancashire flower.

Not many people get the design right. For instance, the Lancashire Police badge is correct but the Lancashire County Council's is wrong.

Their rose is shown as a double red rose.
