THE LETTER from Lesley Bickerstaffe (LT, November 27) re the attack on Mrs D Hope ended with the hope that the scum, if caught, will receive an appropriate sentence.
Unfortunately an appropriate sentence is not available to the courts. An appropriate sentence, given that inflicting pain is what separates us from him, would be treble the maximum tariff and no parole.
