IT’S great news that some of our parks have been recognised as the best in the country.
In total 32 green and pleasant open spaces in East Lancashire have been given ‘Green Flag’ awards by the Keep Britain Tidy group.
They have been given the honour because they are well-managed, high-quality parks and land.
All the award winners provide a tranquil place for people to go and enjoy nature.
Some are in the heart of our towns and provide a welcome haven for both wildlife and residents seeking respite from hectic urban life.
Others have excellent leisure facilities, with outdoor gyms, running tracks and playgrounds for the kids.
Many are regular haunts for dog- walkers, who take the opportunity to enjoy a chat and a catch-up with like-minded pet owners as they stretch their legs.
Best of all they are all free for all of us to enjoy.
So this summer everyone should get out and explore their local park and see what it has to offer - you might just be surprised!
