RE: Barrowford air rifle attack leaves cat paralysed. Sad story. However, such stories always come with the same tired old reactions: 1. It could have been a child. It wasn't. Why do we always fantasise that every attack, accident or mishap could have affected a child? Does human life loose its value when you reach adulthood? Let's leave out the hypothetical situations and stick to the story at hand.

2. A call for more legislation. We always want to tighten the screw on our freedoms. I own an air rifle and would never dream of shooting a pet, yet I would be regulated along with the idiots. The only difference is, I would choose to follow the new law, the idiots wouldn't.

There will always be bad things in life. Let's not throw away all our freedom in a vain effort to legislate them away.
