I MAY get condemned for saying this, but – let’s get Blackburn with Darwen Council banging on Cuadrilla’s door and get them in to Blackburn drilling for shale gas.
The old Blackburn gas works has been empty for years and it’s a contaminated brownfield site in the middle of an large industrial area, with excellent road access, and it must also have good access to the gas network.
If Cuadrilla want to drill for gas in East Lancashire and are willing to invest money and create jobs, then the council should be falling over themselves to bring them in to the town, because if they won’t, the other councils around the area will be.
Michael Albin, Burnley Road, Blackburn.
