For lasting peace, Palestinians and Israel must secure full ceasefire and commit entirely on sacrificing their existing stand and give, to gain freedom from each other’s escalated hostilities. This would mean for Hamas to discontinue firing rockets into Israel and provocation upon citizens of Israel and commit wholeheartedly by recognising Israel as their neighbours; and for Israel to withdraw from the occupied territories, as defined by United Nations Council Resolution 242.
Also, uplift any restriction on Christians and Muslims from entering Nazareth, Bethlehem and Jerusalem and show approval to all faiths that they are also eligible for worship in this sacred part of the world.
It would also be very reasonable and responsible for Nato forces to patrol this troubled region and to ‘count themselves in’ by ensuring the peace treaty remains in force, rather than focusing on arming the rebels to fight the Syrian regime, and to divert troops from fighting an unwinnable war in Afghanistan.
