IN echoing the sentiments of your correspondent (‘Lou Reed, nowhere man’, Letters, November 30), it is worth pointing out that if it hadn’t been for the Beatles, it is very doubtful whether pop art would have exploded in the way it did in the 1960s.

And without pop art there would have been no Andy Warhol.

And with no Andy Warhol, there would have been no Velvet Underground.
