I read with utter disgust about the heartless individual who defrauded Children in Need (LT, November 21).
This individual was in a responsible position within the charity, which to my mind makes it all the worse.
It is not only the money that they stole, but the serious damage that could be caused to the charity.
The public, like myself, will be thinking that when they donate money to Children in Need, it could end up with an individual like this one, who amazingly escaped an immediate custodial sentence.
What I also found worrying was that the Children in Need spokesperson was said to be not available for comment. You would have thought they would like to reassure the public who donate to this charity, that a situation like this could not, and would not happen again.
Disgusted, Rawtenstall.
