An Accrington salon that is “constantly reinventing itself” has been nominated for the Lancashire Telegraph’s Best Beauty Salon 2024.
Ten beauty salons are battling it out for your votes, with Angela Kay’s Laser, Beauty & Brows being one of the nominees.
Angela opened her salon, in Warner Street more than 25 years ago after receiving a £500 gift for her 21st birthday.
Having already gained experience at Plus 2hair salon in Accrington, she started her venture with a focus on nails but has since broadened into various treatments.
With an eye on the latest ground-breaking technology, she aims to keep ahead of the industry and pioneers laser hair removal.
She also became an expert in semi-permanent make-up and can transform brows, whether it was due to age, chemotherapy or struggling to get them even and even did ex-Coronation Street star Sherie Hewson’s.
Angela said: “It’s very nice to be nominated. We have been in Accrington for such a long time and there are a lot of new salons, but we have been going for 25 years.
“We always reinvent ourselves, we are always up to date with new products. We are always going on new training courses and we offer all kinds of beauty and aesthetic treatments.”
And Angela Kay’s has become a hotspot in the town, with popular favourites including semi-permanent make-up and laser hair removal.
Like many businesses, Angela has struggled with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis.
Angela added: “I think we have managed because we have an amazing clientele who have stuck by us no matter what.
“Some of my clients have been there since the beginning and they are just fantastic.”
She employs four different staff and claims it is a big team effort to provide high-quality treatments.
Qualified as a teacher and assessor, she has also helped many apprentices fulfil their dreams in the beauty industry and she works hard to pass on her knowledge.
She added: “We are a very varied salon and quite a few girls are working there, and we do a variety of aesthetics, massage, facials nails.”
Readers can vote for the ‘Best Beauty Salon 2024’ by picking up copies of the Lancashire Telegraph between Monday, September 30 to Saturday, October 12.
