EDGWORTH residents have asked Blackburn with Darwen Council to revive the full 537 bus service from the village to Bolton.
A total of 683 signed a petition urging them to subsidise the service after commercial operator Arriva North West scrapped it at the end of last month.
They believe the hourly service, which goes via Crowthorn, Bromley Cross and Astley Bridge, is a vital link to the village.
The petitioners have asked Rossendale and Darwen MP Jake Berry to join the fight.
The council has agreed to subsidise Darwen Coaches to extend its 37 minibus service to Edgworth to go as far as Bromley Cross and is continuing to contribute towards an existing bus service between Edgworth and Darwen.
However, it has agreed that it cannot afford any more.
