A Chorley record producer and label boss has put together an compilation of bands who all hail from the town.
Michael Whalley, 24, who is studying audio engineering in Manchester, has gathered eight of the town’s aspiring groups to create Chorons, a digital album to which each band contributed a track. The download, which is available in several formats, was mostly recorded by Michael, who set up his label Brock n Broll records, seven months ago.
The record features local bands Last Lungs, Chandelier Swing, White Swallow and Boy Genius.
Then Thickens, Elohymn, Cactus Knife and Kong also contributed.
The bands are regulars on the town’s gig scene with several of them performing on Thursday’s at the Imperial pub, where Michael used to work behind the bar.
He said: “These are my friends and it was a pleasure getting the compilation together.
“There’s a really vibrant music scene in Chorley and everyone gets along.
“It was great experience for me to do the production and engineering because I hope to have a career in music recording.”
He added: “I hope people will have a listen and love them as much as I do.”
The album Chorons is available to download for £1 from the website http:// brocknbroll.bandcamp.com/.
