A Chorley student is following in the fashion footsteps of some of the world’s top designers this week.
Megan Christie, 21, will emulate style legends Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen when she displays her creations at a dazzling London show.
The final-year fashion student at Manchester Metropolitan University, (MMU) was selected to send six outfits down the catwalk at Graduate Fashion Week in London.
Talented menswear designer Megan, from Daisy Hill Fold, Euxton, Chorley, was chosen to be part of the biggest showcase of young and emerging fashion talent in the UK by an external panel of judges.
The former student of Parklands High, Chorley, and Runshaw College, Leyland, said: “I come from a very athletic family and my final collection features sportswear and denim.
"I’d love to work as a designer in the men’s sportswear industry after university.”
Megan added: “All the fabrics have been sourced from a Manchester-based technical performance fabric supplier and I’ve used techniques such as hand printing and wet print to apply colour and pattern to garments.”
Alison Welsh, programme leader for Fashion at MMU, said: “Graduate Fashion Week provides students with a unique opportunity to showcase their work, make contacts and get noticed.
"Megan should be very proud of herself for being selected.”
Graduate Fashion Week has launched the careers of some of the world’s best-known designers and work from previous MMU entrants has scooped the top £20,000 Gold Award and even been spotted being worn by global pop phenomenon Lady Gaga.
