A MAN was taken to hospital after falling down a man-hole in a town centre street.
The man, in his 40s, tumbled into the gas works hole in Eaves Lane, Chorley, at 11.10pm yesterday.
Passers-by heard his cries for help and alerted fire and ambulance crews.
The man, who used a walking stick and could not climb out on his own, was helped out and taken to hospital.
However, he was not thought to be seriously injured.
