Police are hunting a man who brutally attacked a pedestrian during an unprovoked assault in Buckshaw Village.
The incident happened between 1 -1.30pm on February 17 as a 46-year-old man was walking on Marine Crescent leading to an undeveloped area near Main Street.
The man who lives locally, was approached from behind by a man who accused him of throwing stones at his car.
He was then punched in the eye, causing him to lose his balance.
The victim sustained a1.5in cut above his right eye which required five stitches and two black eyes.
He was kept overnight in Chorley Hospital as a precaution.
The suspect is described as 30-35 and 6ft tall. He was overweight and approximately 17 stone.
He had dark hair cut short with a bald spot in the front centre and was wearing a white top.
After the assault he left along the path in the direction of Marine Drive.
Sgt Kevin Mountain, of Chorley police said: “This was a nasty and violent assault on an innocent party.
“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the man.”
