PART of the M65 between Chorley and Darwen was closed this morning after a woman was airlifted to hospital.
At around 9am a car and a van collided on the westbound carriageway between junction 3 at Riley Green and junction 4 at Darwen.
The occupants of the car, two children and a woman, received minor injuries.
The children were taken in an ambulance to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for checks, but the woman was airlifted to the hospital because of initial fears her injuries were more severe.
The Highways Agency closed both lanes of the motorway between junctions 3 and 4 to allow the helicopter to land.
Tailbacks in the area were reported before the motorway was fully reopened at 10.30am.
