Police in Chorley are investigating a burglary at a bookmakers, in which thieves used electric tools to steal £1,800 from a safe.
The break-in happened at the William Hill branch in Harpers Lane sometime between 9.45pm on Friday (December 5) and 7.45am on Saturday.
Police say that the thieves forced their way into the premises via the back door and moved window displays to obscure the view of any passers by.
They have then used an angle grinder to cut the counter and then an electic tool to drill through three inches of concrete.
The thieves made off with £1,873 but left behind another £1,355 which police say may indicate that they were disturbed.
Sgt Sonia Spencer, of Chorley Police, said: “The thieves left behind the blade from the angle grinder and some chewing gum so we have some leads to follow.
“We would however like anyone who saw or heard anything to get in touch with us.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Chorley police on 01257 269021 or Crimestoppers, free and in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
