AFTER a year of success and calls for more, an author has published his second children’s book.
Alec Price, 61, of Chapel Street, Brinscall, will launch The Trogglybogs and The Staff of Hope today, which is a follow up to The Trogglybogs of Brinscall Moor.
The author said it took four months to write the second book, while working as operations manager at Brinscall Swimming Pool, .
Alec said: “The first book was so successful, we had to do a re-print. I received a lot praise for it, so that inspired me to do the second.
“Both adults and children enjoy reading it and quite a few contacted me, saying the story was brilliant.”
The Trogglybogs, who do not die, were once children before they were cursed by a Pendle Witch in 1602 after she was refused shelter on a cold and wet night in Chorley.
And according to Alec, they are creatures who live in caves deep within the West Pennine Moors.
The new book sees the Trogglybogs attempting to escape the witch as they are directed to a secret cave.
Alec said he got his inspiration from the Pennine Moors.
He said: “Whenever I walk along the hills I sense something, whether that something is just peace and quiet I don’t know, but it’s as if I’m not alone.”
Illustrations in the book are by a Darwen artist, Eileen Briscoe.
Alec added: “The book wouldn’t be the same without the fabulous drawings.”
