Help is at hand for people looking to start their own business with a brand new pilot scheme in central Lancashire.
Chorley Council is leading the way after securing the services of an enterprise facilitator to support new start up businesses across Chorley, South Ribble and Preston.
Andrew Atkinson will be promoting entrepreneurship and self employment in the borough and will offer practical help and advice to people wanting to set up their own business whether they are employed or out of work.
Coun Peter Malpas, Chorley Council’s Executive member business said: “We are delighted to have got Andrew on board and he will be an invaluable resource for people in Chorley and across central Lancashire.
“He will be targeting areas where there are a high proportion of people out of work but he will also be able to help those who are looking to diversify and start up their own business.”
Mr Atkinson, who will be working for the Business Venture Group based in Farington, said he was looking forward to his new role.
He said: “This is a great opportunity for people to get advice about setting up their own business.
“ My primary role is to liaise with local community groups, local authorities and private institutions to ensure that all residents in South Ribble, Chorley and Preston are aware and have access to the free services provided through a partnership with Chorley Council and the Business Venture Group to assist people who wish to become self employed.”
