Two sea cadets from the Chorley unit are celebrating after winning the area sailing competition.
Leading cadets Alex Pilkington, 17, and Annie Stephenson, 17, secured their place in the North West team and had the opportunity to travel to Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland to compete in the Sea Cadet National Sailing Regatta.
Sailing together as a team in the Bosun class, they came away with two gold medals, one bronze and the winning trophy which was awarded to the North West Area.
Leading Cadet Stephenson said: “It was an unforgettable competition and a fun-filled weekend. As well as enjoying our sailing success I made many new friends.”
Alex and Annie, students at Runshaw College, are both keen sailors who sail regularly at various national competitions and are members at Bolton Sailing Club and Delph Sailing Club.
