Children at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Chorley, have spent some time recently learning about harvest.
As part of the Government’s new Creative Curriculum, the youngsters from Class 3 have been taking part in a variety of activities including baking bread and biscuits, and making corn dollies.
The children learnt through discovery, art, poetry and song how wheat is grown and made into flour and how fruit and vegetables are gathered in before making the journey to our shops.
The children also took part in a CAFOD assembly and learnt that not everyone can just go the shops for their food, and in many parts of the world it is a struggle to grow and harvest crops.
To support those less fortunate, the children sold warm bread rolls at break times and raised £50 for CAFOD.
