A Chorley woman has been crowned an eco-queen after winning a title in a beauty pageant with a difference.
Kate White, 25, who works as a website designer, was crowned Miss Earth North West at the national finals of Miss Earth UK.
As well as the traditional attributes of beauty and poise, contestants must show a real commitment on green causes.
Kate, from Cloverfield, Clayton-le-Woods, established her green credentials to secure her place in the finals in Leamington Spa.
She said: “This was my first ever beauty pageant and I’m proud that it was for such a good cause. I still can’t believe that I won the regional title. It was a great experience and I’d recommend it to anyone.”
At the event, Kate, aformer Lostock Hall High School pupil, rubbed shoulders with supermodel Hofit Golan, designer Scott Henshall, Big Brother’s Aisleyne and Spandau Ballet's Steve Norman.
