SOUTH Ribble residents have until August 5 to tell the independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England where they think new ward boundaries should be across the borough.
The commission is carrying out an electoral review of the council area which means re-drawing its electoral map to accommodate the loss of five councillors.
It is asking local people for their views on new arrangements before it draws up its recommendations for the borough, which includes the Bamber Bridge, Lostock Hall, Gregson Lane, Samlesbury and Walton-le-Dale wards – all part of the Ribble Valley parliamentary constituency represented by Nigel Evans.
The commission will consider all views put to it during the consultation and aims to publish draft recommendations for new ward boundaries for South Ribble Borough Council in October.
In May, the commission agreed that the council should have 50 councillors in the future, five fewer than current arrangements.
It now aims to draw up ward boundaries that mean each of those councillors represents a similar number of voters and that the new wards reflect the interest and identities of local communities.
