COLD weather is set to bite again this week as East Lancashire continues to suffer from the worst winter seen in 30 years.
Snow fell over the area on Wednesday last week, and temperatures are set to remain low this week, with a risk of more snow today and tomorrow.
Charity Help the Aged urged older people to take advice on board and apply for any further help they need.
Special adviser Mervyn Kohler said: “It is important to keep warm during this cold snap, which is why we would urge older people to make sure they continue to heat their homes.
"Anyone concerned about the costs of heating should order one of our free winter warmer packs to find out what support is on offer”
A free copy of Help the Aged’s Three Steps to a Warmer Winter leaflets is available by calling 0800 089 0800.
As well as useful contacts and the latest information and advice about claiming benefits and improving energy efficiency in the home, it includes a free thermometer to help people to monitor room temperatures.
