THE Lancashire Telegraph's We're Backing Darwen' campaign was the subject of an early day motion in Parliament.
The campaign, which calls for a town council to be created in a bid to give Darwen a stronger individual identity and help bring in investment, was mentioned before the House by Darwen MP Janet Anderson.
In it she recommends "That this House congratulates the Lancashire Telegraph on its We're Backing Darwen campaign; considers that the people of Darwen deserve this recognition of their incomparable community spirit; and looks forward to this proud and independent town being granted its own town council'.
The motion has received five signatures of support from MPs - Janet Anderson, Greg Pope, Lindsay Hoyle, Gordon Prentice and Ann Cryer.
