Darweners can now sign an online petition to get their own town council.
2,500 signatures have already been gathered by campaigners - but for the Government to allow the move, 10 per cent of residents must sign up.
A town council is one of the aims of the Lancashire Telegraph's We're Backing Darwen campaign.
It would allow people to have a bigger say on by-laws and planning issues through locally elected councillors and also act as a major forum and lobbying organisation.
To add your name to the petition, just fil in your name and address below.
- You need to live in Darwen to sign the petition
- If you have already signed the petition, there is no need to do so again
- The petition will remain open until mid-January.
