Burnley based-based IT repair specialist MendIT has been named as one of the UK’s most exciting new businesses.

At a ceremony in London last night the business which is headquartered in Burnley  was named on the Everline Future 50 list of Britain's most disruptive new firms.

The list recognizes companies that challenge the norms in their field and

revolutionise the way we live, work and play from a wide range of sectors, including ecommerce, property, veterinary, fashion, motoring and hospitality.

Launched in 2011, MendIT offers a range of warranty and repair products that can be offered by IT resellers at the point of sale. Over the last 12 months MendIT has secured partnerships deals within the distribution channel, which have dramatically increased the visibility of its products to resellers, and counts 8 of the UK’s top 10 resellers as customers.

The company posted turnover figures of £1.3m in April 2014 (£651,000 in 2013) and continued healthy growth throughout this year means MendIT is positioning itself as the UK’s number one computer repair specialist.

Managing Director Steve Ackers says: “In business finding answers to everyday problems means you’re often onto a winner. That’s exactly what MendIT has done in its relatively short life. We are doing something different in a well-established industry.

“At present the experience for businesses and individuals suffering from issues like a damaged laptop or smashed smartphone screen, who go down the traditional route is an exasperating one. Resellers have an angry customer on their hands, who in turn suffer from lengthy turnaround times. The whole process is a headache for all concerned.

“What MendIT has done is completely turn this messy business into a slick and pain free operation for both IT resellers and their end user customers.”

MendIT carries out repairs for all major brands with its own team of highly trained specialist in-house repair engineers carrying out the work which means it can offer industry-leading turnaround times. Figures quoted relate to claims made in 2014.

Judging was carried out by an expert panel led by Everline CEO Russell Gould. Amy Carroll, Group Editor at Real Business, chaired the panel of judges which included Richard Gibson, CFO at SwiftKey, Parveen Dhanda, City Innovation Incubator Manager at City University, Trevor Hope, Chief Investment Officer at Berinegea LLP and Clive Rich, CEO of LawBite.

Russell Gould, COO of digital business lenders Everline and Ezbob, commented: “The calibre of businesses on this year’s list is testament to the wealth of innovation and creativity in the UK at the moment. SMEs are the bedrock of the economy, so it is great to see so many celebrated and recognised for being disruptive in their designated fields. I hope this year’s winners inspire a new wave of businesses and I look forward to watching their developments in the months and years ahead.”

Amy Carroll, Group Editor, Real Business, adds: “For the fourth year running we have identified 50 exciting and disruptive businesses that are all breaking new ground and transforming the sectors within which they operate. The six we awarded named prizes to this year are shining examples of the potential early-stage businesses in the UK have and the extent to which they can make a big difference to the economy. I wish them all every success for the future.”
