A 17-year-old boy suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a car in Burnley last night.
The incident, at 7.15pm on Monday, saw the teenager struck by a silver Vauxhall Corsa as he crossed Parliament Street at the junction of Oxford Road.
He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where his condition is described as critical.
The road was closed for three and a half hours to allow for police investigations.
Sgt Alan Baron said: “I would appeal to anybody that witnessed the collision itself or with any information that could assist with our investigation to contact Lancashire Police on 08451 25 35 45.”
