LAND in the Daneshouse, Stoneyholme, and Duke Bar areas of Burnley is set to be sold off for housing, town hall bosses have announced.
Three separate sites on spare land between New Hall Street, Barden Lane, and Brougham Street, could have 100 new homes built there, if the housing market picks up.
Regeneration work has stalled in the district after a prospective deal with housing developer Gleesons collapsed more than two years ago.
Council bosses say they are in talks with a new developer and the area could be transformed over the next four years.
Coun Margaret Lishman, resources cabinet member, said: “This is great news for the areas affected and the borough as a whole.
“It’s a shot in the arm for our housing market and is part of a wider trend of new homes being built in Burnley.”
Public consultation events are planned next month, and work could begin next year.
