A 33-year-old man was attacked in his own bedroom yesterday by intruders in Burnley.
Police say the victim was asleep at his home in Waterbarn Street, in the Daneshouse area of Burnley, at around 1.30am when the trio burst in.
He heard them banging at his front door before the gang ran upstairs and confronted him in bed.
The victim has said he was punched twice in the face and kicked repeatedly to the body before one of the attackers stamped on his head.
The three men then fled and were seen by an eyewitness walking towards the crossroads with Newman Street.
Detectives believe that two of the men spoke to two unidentified women, before they crossed Newman Street and walked back along Waterbarn Street.
An appeal has now been issued for the two mystery women to come forward to help with Burnley police’s inquiries.
DC Darren Davies said: “I am appealing for anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Burnley CID and also for the two women who spoke with two men near Newman Street in the early hours of Saturday morning to come forward as they may have vital information that could help with our investigation.
The attack happened on Saturday, August 14. Police said the men were white, in their early 20s and around 5ft 9in and stocky.
All wore dark trousers and one wore a white t-shirt which he had pulled up over his nose.
A second wore an off-white or grey coloured hooded top.
The victim was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital but later discharged after treatment for bruising and swelling to his face.
People with information should call Burnley CID on 01282 or 01282 425001.
