A MUM-of-two has told of her terror when she was attacked by three men in her home in a case of mistaken identity.
Police have appealed for witnesses after the housewife was punched and kicked to the ground of the porch in her home in Kime Street, Burnley.
Police believe it was a case of mistaken identity because the men apologised to the 37-year-old, who did not want to be named, after she said she not owe them anything.
She fought back and punched one of the men in the face during the attack, which lasted a few minutes.
The men ran out of the house leaving her lying on the floor of the porch in the two storey house.
She sustained bruising to her right arm and bruises down her right thigh.
The woman, who asked not to be named, who has a son and daughter, was listening to a Queen album when she heard a knock on the door some time between 8.30 and 9pm on Tuesday night.
She said: “The grabbed me and held on to me and said ‘you owe me’.
“The next thing I knew I was on the floor after one of the men kicked me on my arm.
“They punched and kicked me and only stopped when I said ‘I owe you nothing’ “They apologised and left.”
The housewife, whose eight-year-old son was upstairs in his bedroom at the time of the attack, said she was now afraid to answer the door.
She added: “It hasn’t sunk in yet. I was frightened especially when I was lying on the floor because I didn’t know what they would do.
“I was on the floor for a couple of minutes but it felt a lot longer.
“I was so scared because the last thing you expect is to be attacked by three men in your home.
“My boyfriend has been so supportive and that has really helped.”
Police are looking for three men aged around 18. They were wearing tracksuits.
Sgt Phil Carter, of Burnley police, said: “We believe it was a case of mistaken identity because the males apologised when they realised they were wrong.
“But this was a nasty attack and we want anyone with information to contact us.”
Police have appealed for witnesses and anyone with information should contact Burnley police on 01282 425001 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
