A DRIVER will need surgery for fractures to her back and ankles after a head on collision with another vehicle.
Police said the female driver was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital after the Peugeot 306 she was travelling in crossed the central reservation between the two roundabouts at Gannow Top, Burnley, and collided with the Toyota Corolla.
Fire crews from Nelson and Burnley freed both drivers, who were trapped in their cars, on Sunday at 8.30pm.
The driver of the Toyota sustained leg injuries and a passenger in the Peugeot suffered chest injuries.
All three were taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital and police said the injuries to the Peugeot driver were not life threatening.
The roads surrounding the central reservation were re-opened at 2am today.
