A SCHOOL sports coach was remanded in custody today on child sex charges after a hearing at Blackburn Magistrates' Court.
Glyn Thompson did not enter a plea in relation to allegations of five offences under the Sexual Offences Act, including assault with penetration and sexual activity with a child.
The allegations date back to 2011 and 2012, when the defendant was working at Stoneyholme Primary School in Burnley, and relate to one teenage girl who was not a pupil at the school.
Thompson, 31, of Padiham Road, Burnley, wore blue jeans and a light grey sweatshirt as he stood in the dock, and sat with his head in his hands throughout the hearing.
Thompson’s parents were in court to see the chairman of the bench, Mr Trevelyan, inform Thompson that his application for bail had been refused.
The case will now be heard at Burnley Crown Court on July 24.
