SIX cars were badly damaged by fire following a blaze at a breakers yard.
The fire, which is being treated as suspicious, broke out at the car breakers unit in Emerald Street, Blackburn, at around 11pm on Saturday night.
Four fire engines were sent to the scene after the emergency services received seven calls from members of the public.
Six members of crew from two Blackburn engines entered the Roe Lee site wearing breathing apparatus to tackle the flames from within, while colleagues from Accrington used an aerial ladder to dampen the blaze from above.
Crew from Darwen were called to assist with their specialist cutting equipment as the prem-ise’s two units were separated by metal rolling shutters.
Firefighters spent several hours at the site.
A significant amount of the property was also damaged by smoke and flames.
