A FLAG raising ceremony will take place at Roe Lee Park in Blackburn next week to celebrate it scooping a Green Flag award for the third year running.
Roe Lee is one of four Blackburn parks, along with Sunnyhurst Wood in Darwen to receive the award.
Coun Michael Law-Riding, executive member for leisure and culture and Roe Lee ward councillor said: “I am delighted that so many of our green open spaces have been awarded Green Flag status.
"We know how important they are to local people that is why we are committed to making sure they are safe and welcoming.
“I’d like to thank everyone involved in the borough’s parks, including park users and the friends groups, without whose help we would not have achieved this award.”
Kieran Almond, chair of Friends of Roe Lee Park added: “Once again the Civic Trust has seen fit to present a green flag to our fabulous park.
"Getting this prestigious award makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
Roe Lee Park is over 17 acres, with bowling greens, kick around area and children's playground.
It first won the prestigious Green Flag Award status in 2006.
