A FAMILY had to evacuate their house after vandals torched a motorbike parked outside and the fire spread to their home.
The mother and son had to flee the semi-detached house on Cornelian Street, Roe Lee, Blackburn just after midnight.
Firefighters said the motorbike was well ablaze after the petrol inside caught fire.
The heat broke a downstairs window of the house, which filled with black smoke.
Crew manager Dave Hilliard, from Blackburn fire station, said a smoke alarm was vital in alerting the occupants, and said the house would have been “well ablaze” if the firefighters had not arrived on the scene so quickly.
The house was left with smoke damage, and police are investigating.
