RESIDENTS of 150-year-old terrace streets are holding a Victorian style fete to celebrate con-struction of the homes in Hardy Street, Pemberton Street, Haydock Street and Outram Lane.
The fete will be held on June 21 on lawns opposite Hardy Street, Roe Lee.
Rhere will be barbecue food, sarsaparilla, and refreshments to mark the day.
Research has been done on who was in residence more than a century ago and a note will be put on doors giving details. One house had ten occupants, almost all weavers.
Games will be provided for children of all ages and material will be available for a fancy-dress competition with a cash prize.
Local shops have contributed prizes and balloons and there will be an exhibition to illustrate the home life and working environmnet of Roe Lee in Victorian times.
The event starts at 1pm and tickets are £2 for adults and 50p for children.
Any one with old pictures should contact the Ann Bellamy on 01254 582300 or Sue Wolstenholme 07977 582607.
