A SET of redundant barns in green belt countryside could become modern new homes.
Mr T Foley has applied to Blackburn with Darwen Council for planning permission for the conversions at Moor Farm in Belthorn Road, Guide.
His proposal would create two homes and a two bedroom bungalow.
A supporting statement submitted with the application says: "The application site is located close to the junction with Haslingden Road and Belthorn Road in the
hamlet of Guide. The site is within an elevated area close to junction 5 of the M65.
"The site comprises a large barn located in the north western part of the site. In the south western part of the site there is a collection of barns and various outbuildings.
"The site is located in the Green belt.
The proposed development is for the conversion of the main barn on the site into two dwellings and the conversion of a further barn to a two bedroom bungalow.
"The main part of the barn will be converted into two dwellings. Each dwelling will have a lounge, kitchen/dining area on the ground floor and a study.
"The main opening will be converted into the entrance to both dwellings. The smaller openings will be utilised to provide windows for the proposed lounges.
"The upper floor of the barn will be converted into three bedrooms and a bathroom for each dwelling.
"The bedrooms nearest the neighbouring dwelling will have windows which look internally into the proposed entrance.
"The second part of the proposal is for the conversion of the smaller barn to the rear of the site into a bungalow, this was discussed with the officer on site..
"The buildings are redundant and have been for a number of years.
"The site is located close to the B6232, the main Haslingden Road. Close to the junction with the old road is a bus stop which is located approximately 200 metres from the site entrance. The site is therefore considered accessible from different modes of transport.
"The buildings to be converted are of substantial and permanent construction and can be converted to
residential dwellings without major reconstruction The barn conversions would have a degree of separation and would have their own private amenity areas.
"Therefore, the living conditions of the future residents would be satisfactory.
"The proposal will be accompanied by an ecology statement which demonstrates that the existing barn and the outbuildings have little value in terms of accommodating protected species."
