MOTORISTS have been hit with fines during a road safety crackdown.
Almost 130 vehicles were stopped and 22 drivers were handed fines for a variety of offences including, driving at excessive speed, not wearing a seatbelt and using mobile phones.
Officers operated a roadside checkpoint at Ewood, as part of the campaign to raise awareness about the consequences of driving irresponsibly or illegally.
Sgt Paul Schofield said: “Drivers need to be aware of their responsibilities when it comes to road safety – losing your licence is a real risk, as is leaving behind a devastated family if you are hurt or killed in a crash.
“We will continue to run similar operations.”
