AN elderly woman had to be rescued from a fire in a flat in Carlinghurst Road, Wensley Fold, Blackburn, this afternoon.
Three fire engines from Blackburn Fire station attended the incident at 2.40pm.
Paramedics treated the woman at the scene for smoke inhalation before she was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital.
The ground floor flat was moderately damaged by smoke following the blaze caused by a chip pan.
