A MAJOR clean-up is underway to ensure Witton Park is fit for a future king and his princess.
Bosses at Blackburn with Darwen Council with the help of volunteers and the Probation Service are clearing the athletics track and repainting areas.
They are also removing graffiti and litter picking ahead of Monday’s big day.
HRH Prince William and Catherine Middleton will be visiting Blackburn and Darwen on their last official public appearance before their wedding on April 29.
It is understood the park offers people their best chance to see the couple, rather than the first engagement at the Darwen Aldridge Community Academy.
Anthony Entwistle, Blackburn with Darwen Council parks development officer, said: "It is great that everyone is chipping in to help make sure that Witton Park is looking fantastic on the day.
"The park is a huge visitor attraction and already gets thousands of people coming along every month. After the visit, even more people will know about the fantastic facility and what it has to offer."
Timings of the visit have not yet been confirmed. However the couple will first officially open the Darwen academy.
Then at Witton Park they will view recreational activities taking place.
The Prince will also sign a document which protects the park from any future development.
Miss Middleton will be invited to start a 100-metre race and meet athletes and trainers.
