MORE than 150 people turned out to see Nalin Surie, the High Commissioner of India to the UK, visit a Blackburn community centre yesterday.
Mr Surie took part in a question-and-answer session with members of Shear Brow Community Association, at Westbrook House Community Centre, Randal Street, between 10am and noon.
Coun Suleman Khonat, who chaired the meeting, said: “People really appreciated that he took the time to answer their questions about a range of government matters, such as getting visa applications and passport issues.
“The visit took us six months to arrange, and a lot of hard work. We were worried the EDL protests on Saturday might put him off visiting, but it didn’t, and we had a very good turnout.”
