THE mother-in-law of a man accused of murdering his wife's lover has told a jury that 'lives have been ruined' by what happened.
Saheel Ahmed, 24, was stabbed to death in an alleyway in Warrington Street, Little Harwood, Blackburn, in June.
Naeem Butt, 38, of Johnston Street, Blackburn, is on trial, charged with his murder.
Preston Crown Court has heard that Butt's estranged wife Shakra Ali, 25, was in a relationship with Mr Ahmed and the crown allege that was the motive for the brutal murder.
The jury has been told Ms Ali's mother, Nasreen Akhtar, had travelled to Blackburn to support her daughter as she was concerned about the new relationship.
Taking to the witness stand and speaking through an interpreter, Mrs Akhtar said her two 'princess' granddaughters – Ms Ali and the defendant's daughters – 'had their lives ruined' by the whole ordeal.
Butt denies murder.
(Proceeding).
